Information Network—— Frontier of Information Engineering Science

Zhong Yixin

Strategic Study of CAE 1999, Volume 1, Issue 1,   Pages 24-29

Abstract:

Information Network has been grown up and spread out to the entire globe extremely swiftly in recent years. It has also very quickly turned out to be a world-wide new infrastructure of the society and made great influence to the ways people work, live, learn and think. The astonished phenomenon has been regarded as a real frontier and focus in science and engineering, extracting great attentions from science and engineering circle as well as the whole world.

An attempt is made in the paper to establish a new discipline, the information network engineering, based on the above phenomenon.First, the concept of information network is re-defined clearly here and then the working mechanism of information network is analyzed in depth. A comparative discussion on the functions embodied in human activities and that performed in information network is carried out and the working relationship between man and information network is found to be the socalled symbiosis. As a result of the analyses above, a list of the important issues and directions in information network engineering study is briefly summarized.

Transformer2 proteins protect breast cancer cells from accumulating replication stress by ensuring productive

Andrew Best,Katherine James,Gerald Hysenaj,Alison Tyson-Capper,David J. Elliott

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2016, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 186-195 doi: 10.1007/s11705-015-1540-4

Abstract: Increased expression levels of the RNA splicing regulator Transformer2 (abbreviated Tra2 ) have been reported in several types of cancer. Recent work has revealed an intimate cross-regulation between Tra2 and the highly similar Tra2 protein in human breast cancer cells, though these two proteins are encoded by separate genes created by a gene duplication that occurred over 500 million years ago. This cross-regulation involves splicing control of a special class of exons, called poison exons. Down-regulation of Tra2 reduces splicing inclusion of a poison exon in the mRNA encoding Tra2 , thereby up-regulating Tra2 protein expression. This buffers any splicing changes that might be caused by individual depletion of Tra2 alone. Discovery of this cross-regulation pathway, and its by-pass by joint depletion of both human Tra2 proteins, revealed Tra2 proteins are essential for breast cancer cell viability, and led to the identification of important targets for splicing control. These exons include a critical exon within the checkpoint kinase 1 (CHK1) gene that plays a crucial function in the protection of cancer cells from replication stress. Breast cancer cells depleted for Tra2 proteins have reduced CHK1 protein levels and accumulate DNA damage. These data suggest Tra2 proteins and/or their splicing targets as possible cancer drug targets.

New evaluation method on the precision of NC machine tools

Zhao Wanhua,Zhang Jun,Liu Hui,Yang Xiaojun

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 1,   Pages 93-98

Abstract:

The performance of computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tool is evaluated by the traditional positioning error and the positioning repeatability, which is in quasi static and cannot reflect the precision of machine tool in the process of movement and machining. In this paper, a novel precision evaluation method which takes the dynamic precision as index is proposed for high-speed machine tool. The precision of machine tool is described through the consistence of the actual trajectory and the ideal command. The specific evaluation index of dynamic precision is provided. Meanwhile, the measure method of evaluation index is put forward. It can be obtained that this new evaluation method of machine tool precision can evaluate the quality of key performance in CNC machine tool systematically and roundly.

Tools repairing and welding techniques with high pressure of slurry shield under deep water-rich sandy

Cheng Mingliang,He Feng,Lv Chuantian

Strategic Study of CAE 2010, Volume 12, Issue 12,   Pages 46-50

Abstract:

According to project experience in Beijing Railway underground project, the changing cutter and welding techniques with high pressure of slurry shield under deep water-rich sandy gravel stratum were summarized. There were two main technologies. One is to choose an appropriate position and an appropriate working pressure for making a good previous preparation to ensure the stability of tunnel face. The other is the replacement and grouting of high-concentration slurry, which avoided the gas escape effectively. During the repair welding, we successfully realized going into the excavation chamber with high pressure for more than 250 times, and the working pressure rose from 0.9 bar(1 bar=100 kPa) to 2.8 bar with no accident.
